This is hands down one of the of the best Kava bars I have been to. The atmosphere is very chill, as I came in Kayla provided exceptional service and was so incredibly informative and friendly. She explained the options and even let me taste test before I committed - something that was a first experience for me at a Kava bar. Allana the manager came in later during my stay and was absolutely wonderful, made sure we were enjoying our time and was very attentive. I can’t stress how much I can’t wait to come back here based on the exceptional service. The kava itself was great, the place was clean as well as the restroom. Looking forward to becoming a regular during my visits to Abacoa.

Woman behind the counter was really rude. I asked for an item that I saw on their menu online. She said they didn’t have it, but then corrected me on the name of the item to prove a point I guess? I asked for exactly what was listed on the menu though. Then made me feel like it would be more money that I would want to pay. Which is weird since I asked for it and clearly saw price online. Very odd interaction. Will definitely not go back in future. Maybe she was just having a bad morning.

I’ve been coming to Island root for years now. The kavatenders (shoutouts to Luke, Alana, and Maynard) have a real gift of making sure every customer feels welcomed. The product is top notch quality, the kava and botanical tea options are plentiful, and the location is very clean and decorative. There’s even a pool table and board games available to enjoy. Highly recommended.

I honestly love this bar , I’ve been going here for 3 years and I would never give a rating less then 5 , but honestly if I could give a lower rating on this specific issue I would. This bar is small enough as is and doesn’t have many seats, when they do poker nights they take 6+ seats from the bar, I’ve suggested since I’ve been coming here to get back up chairs and keep them in the back and bring them out for this night yet nothing has been done. They aren’t paying costumers most of the time and only get something when they actually win.
