Open mic is a great place for musicians to express themselves, their original work and overall repitoire. I’ve seen many musicians build their confidence in this safe and supportive space. It is a great outlet for adults outside of their monotonous daily lives. There is quality sound gear unlike a lot of other open mics I’ve been to. The set-up is accommodating, and the sound engineer is incredibly talented. This is the perfect place to hone your skills.

This place is the BEST. I won't drink tea anywhere else. The red nitro is my go-to. The bartenders are always so quick and friendly. Tyler is the shizz. They've got open mic, trivia, what more could you ask for? I'd give 10/10 if I could. My favorite place. 🙂

I love this place so much. The vibe is always chill. When I come here, I feel my inner hippie wake up! And the bartender Christian is my absolute favorite. He use to work nights, but has recently moved to the day shift which is great for me since I am mostly there during the days.

But then—oh gosh—right as he was cashing me out today, he was bending down to grab something and when stood up he accidently let out the most casual fart 😂. He did say excuse me, and blushed a lil bit.. but gosh
I genuinely love how free-spirited and earthy everyone is here! I call Island root my modern day Woodstock ❤️. Love

Don’t go on Mondays! Morning bartender only talks about politics, so loud and opinionated. No one was interested in what he was saying. Night time is open mic night, it’s karaoke with kids. Not a relaxing entertainment.

Paul and Reese (Marshall too) are all consummate professionals. Island roots is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Melbourne!

Wow… what an amazing spot for kava and Kratom! So chill and great prices.. the food truck and burnt endz were stooopid good, and we got to see some of the best reggae of the summer with Dan Kelly, Tyler Giddens, Matthew Mavericks, Rob D, Beach Fly and Mark Longnecker!! And of course… GNOMEO! The outdoor space has a sunshade and a “green room” in the back; seating for the outside stage is comfortable and no obstructions; inside the bathrooms are spacious and clean! There’s something for everyone, and the kava tenders were knowledgeable and friendly.
Thanks for a great experience Tony—we’ll be back again and again and again!! ✌🏼🫶🏼

I’ve started coming to kava bars regularly to get away from alcohol bar scene for the past year and some change I’ve come to love all island root kava bars as my number 1 preferred destination the employees are awesome people who when you start talking to them are amazing people and actually care and remember who you are, the environment is not like any other kava bar there’s no BS here just adults looking to hang out and enjoy a drinks collectively and unwind or if you’re drinking “white tea” to wake up boom come here and you have my word you’re gonna love it. I’ve experienced nothing but laughter and a judgement free zone at island root, I can not say that for the rest of the kava bars in town.

Great place for studying, spending time with friends, and meeting new people! Super community oriented, staff are always wonderful, clean and inviting

My 1st time here 😉 and had an absolute blast with amazing souls like Beebs$, Mark Longenecker, & kava team. The atmosphere & vibe is beyond awesome & will always remember. Thank you for fun vibes, yummy Java kava, a plant drink that uplifts, calms & tastes like coffee. Yum !
